Opening for Marshal Tucker at Key Club
Dec 7 2002
It was a last-minute gig schedule for Chigger Red, and the perfect chance to finlly meet them. Chigger Red, being no strangers to Key Club, took the invitation to open the show for Marshal Tucker.
They were there to have fun. They had friends and fans out there to get drunk and meet Marshal Tucker. Key Club is one of top 5 clubs in Hollywood area. Keep your eyes open when you go to Key Club. I have actually met Motohead at the back stage to photograph them for club promotion.
It was a fun show. There were people on their feet, cheering for them and singing along with them. Key Club's sound was awesome, and the lighting system was fantastic.
Mike, lead vocal & lead guitar, took the spot light number of times to play his solos. As people cheer for his awesome guitar, he was doing some dance steps (I hate to use these words but it looked cute & innocent). Chris, a bass player was drinking on the stage and handing out CD's. Poor Leo (drummer) was stuck in the back, keep beating on the drums. Key Club has a big stage, so Leo set far back where he missed a spotlight. But, Leo was a strong 1/3 of the party. After all Chigger Red is a three piece band.
After the show, they were hanging out in the trailer with some lovely ladies (friends? girlfriends? or fans?). I took some pictures and had a little chat with them. They were nice people. I was offered with some ice cold beers. But I had to drive home, so..
Suddenly, Mike's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "Should we take some pictures with Marshal Tucker?" Mike asked. Mike, Chris, Leo, and I ran down to the basement where Marshal was getting ready for the show. HEY I shook hands with Mr. Tucker~!!. After taking some pictures I had to call it a night.
Chigger Red is recording their next CD. We talked about having another meeting in the studio. Perhaps we could come up with the schedule to get together again.
